It has been awhile since I have blogged. Kind of funny that I worry about spell check when I don't think anyone reads this thing. Doesn't matter, it is good record keeping for me.
I think it is very interesting that people make comments about how many toys Yip has. Some people have made comments that she is spoiled. I cannot give her enough enrichment toys. Boxes, things that shake, move, squirm away, blankets, chew toys.
She has a laundry basket that I pretty much bring with me and she parks herself in it to play or chew on her toys. We go through her box together and we play with them all. Anytime I am playing with her, I am training her. I am still feeding her one meal a day out of my hands. I now ask for downs, waves which she does either paw, spins and turns or I am calling them left and right. We are working on waits, with either stands downs or sits. I do a 100% food reward for "leave its", "come".
Today I went to breakfast with friends and took her with me too. She was walked by the water and visited people. She got special treats, freeze dried liver, for meeting new people. She got to walk across railroad ties, and got lots of treats when cars or motorcylces went by.
Kids on skateboards! Excellent, she got treats for each one that went by.
It is very tiring raising a puppy, but I want her to enjoy people and to enjoy being handled by people.
that's this today!!

I love reading about your training with Yippee. You are very descriptive and I can totally picture the activities and exercises you are doing with Yippee as you work with her and train her. She is going to be such a well mannered and wonderfully socialized dog. I wish our dog would have had someone like you working with him when he was a pup. You are an excellent trainer and mom! Keep up the good work. Thanks for this BLOG! We DO read it!
